CDC Health Update
The CDC recommends vaccination for people who have been exposed to monkeypox or are at high risk for exposure. Ohio, along with other jurisdictions with lower monkeypox case counts, has been allocated a limited supply of the Jynneos vaccine. ODH is working closely with local health departments to get this limited supply out as quickly as possible to Ohio communities with the highest case counts and highest risk for spread. Click here to view ODH's monkeypox FAQs.
The vaccine takes up to six weeks to reach full effectiveness, so other preventive measure are recommended including avoiding close skin-to-skin contact with people who have a rash, avoiding contact with items that a person with monkeypox has used, and washing your hands often with soap and water or using an alcohol-based sanitizer.
Evidence indicates that the virus is spreading mostly through close, personal, often skin-to-skin contact with someone who has monkeypox. While anyone can catch monkeypox if they have close contact with someone who has monkeypox, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation, many of those affected in the current global outbreaks are gay, bisexual, or other men who have sex with men, according to CDC.

CTR Physician Survey
Ohio Revised Code 4731.30 and Ohio Administrative Code 4731-32-03 require each physician with a CTR to submit an annual report to the Medical Board. To collect the annual report data, the Medical Board emailed a survey to all certified physicians for the physicians to give their professional opinion on the effectiveness of medical marijuana for the conditions for which it has been recommended.
The board has extended the deadline to complete the CTR physician survey until August 31, 2022.
To remain in compliance with Ohio law, physicians with a CTR must respond to the 2022 survey even if they have not made any recommendations. Click here to take the survey.

Scam Alert
Licensees should remain vigilant against the ongoing spoofing and extortion scams targeting Ohio providers. Recently, the board has received reports of scammers calling providers, posing as Medical Board staff, stating the provider is being investigated by the FBI and their license has been suspended effective immediately.
Please remember, State Medical Board of Ohio investigators will not ask for fine payment or personal/sensitive information over the phone and will never contact licensees via fax.
Learn more by visiting our website. Discover how to identify a legitimate investigation, how to verify if the caller is from the Medical Board and how to file a complaint if you are contacted by a scammer.
