Ohio Board of Pharmacy bans sale & use of tianeptine
Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine signed an executive order in December 2022 to allow the State of Ohio Board of Pharmacy to ban the sale and use of tianeptine, known as ZaZa and Tianna Red by users, who can find it readily available in gas stations, convenience stores and online.
In an FDA alert, tianeptine products were linked to serious harm, overdoses and death. The Ohio Board of Pharmacy has described the atypical tricyclic antidepressant (tianeptine) as having no acceptable medical use in treatment and poses an imminent hazard to the public health, safety or welfare.
